The kayaking excursion takes approximately 2.5 hours aprox. and has departures every day at 09:00, 14:00 and 17:00.
At THE base camp, the guides will give you all the necessary equipment which consists of a wetsuit, dry jacket, neoprene boots, neoprene mitts, kayaking skirt, and life jacket. Once everybody is fully equipped, a safe-ty briefing will be given on land where you will become familiar with your kayak, the paddles, the route, and the weather conditions of the day.
Afterward, the kayaks will be carried 20 meters to the boarding area.
During the first part of the excursion, you will paddle close to large floating icebergs and then head towards the east tongue of the Grey Glacier, which will take you to enjoy and contemplate this spectacular scenery that the place offers us along with impressive ice walls.
On the way back to the base camp and if the weather conditions allow it, you will pass by the glacier island (Nunatak), and while you are resting and enjoying this incredible place, your guide will offer you a snack and a hot drink.
- Make sure you carry thermal clothing as well as waterproof
- To get to the base you can either take the Grey Glacier Navigation with us or take the Lake Pehoé Catamaran and do the hike Paine Grande - Grey (sleepover) - Paine Grande and then return in the same Navigation
- If you're doing the W Trek then the kayaking in lake grey experience is a perfect way to either finish or start the trek!
