  • Natural Hot Springs: The hot springs are fed by geothermal activity beneath the Earth's surface, which heats the water to a pleasant temperature, usually around 33°C (91°F). The water contains minerals believed to have therapeutic properties, making it a great place for relaxation and rejuvenation.
  • Scenic Desert Location: Despite being in one of the driest places on Earth, the springs are set in a stunning canyon surrounded by desert flora like native grasses and small bushes. The contrast between the arid desert and the oasis-like springs is one of the main attractions.
  • Terraced Pools: The Puritama hot springs consist of a series of terraced pools, connected by wooden walkways and bridges. Each pool is slightly different in size and temperature, allowing visitors to explore and find their perfect spot for soaking.
  • Altitude: Situated at an altitude of around 3,500 meters (11,480 feet), Termas de Puritama provides a refreshing stop after exploring the high-altitude desert attractions, such as the Tatio Geysers or the Valley of the Moon.
  • Wildlife and Nature: The area around the springs is home to some unique wildlife, including birds like flamingos and various desert plants that have adapted to the harsh environment.
  • Cultural Significance: The name "Puritama" comes from the indigenous Atacameño language and means "hot water." The area has historically been used by indigenous peoples for its healing and relaxing qualities.
  • Eco-Friendly Infrastructure: The springs have been developed in an environmentally conscious way, using sustainable materials and minimizing their ecological footprint to preserve the natural beauty of the area.
